For many burgeoning accounting professionals, working for a top accounting firm has become a benchmark for career success. The Big Four accounting firms—Deloitte, PwC, Ernst & Young and KPMG—are well-known for their prestige, stability and growth potential.

Who are the biggest accounting services?

The number one spot in the list of the world’s largest accounting firms goes to Deloitte, which earned revenue of $59 billion in 2020. The New York-based firm has a global presence that spans more than 160 countries and employs nearly 330,000 people worldwide. Deloitte provides audit, tax, advisory, consulting, and risk management services for companies of all sizes.

In second place is PwC, which earns about $50.3 billion annually. Originally the result of a merger between Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand in 1998, PwC is now an international professional services network with account scottsdale a strong global presence, and annual revenues that rival those of Deloitte.

Ernst and Young, a London-based company with over 55,000 employees, sits in third place, earning about $34.8 billion annually. EY’s strong consulting practice helps them trump PwC in terms of revenue, although they lag behind Deloitte on the audit side.

Next up is Baker Tilly, which earned about $4 billion in 2021 and is headquartered in Chicago. They offer a variety of audit, tax, and advisory services for companies from all sectors, including financial, technology strategy, business operations, and more. They have also been known to invest in employee initiatives, such as increased childcare support and extra PTO during the pandemic.
